Miss Tinkerbelle had a beautiful Perfect Timing filly a week before Christmas!
Junior Hugo is making good progress with Freddie Mercury, as can be seen in the below photograph taken before Christmas.

The 3 horses coming over from America will start their quarantine period soon and if all goes according to plan, they will arrive in Cape Town, on the 20th January 2011. Can hardly wait to see them again. The consigment consist of the Nutcracker stud colt, Quantum Of Solace, the I'm A New Yorker stud colt, Star On Broadway and the black Periaptor filly, Peri's Fancy Dancer.
The young studs had their first mares and 11 mares are already in foal to Made In Heaven and Premier Night! We are still waiting for scan results on 9 more. Let's Celebrate, Francois Dercksen's grand show mare and the recipient of Made In Heaven's ASF breeding service, was also declared in foal after the first insemination! Wing's Roulete, a royally bred mare (Firefly Wing x Yokozuna/Supreme O' Lee daughter),owned by Juhantha Stables and the recipient of Premier Night's ASF breeding service are also in foal after the first insemination! Both studs seem to be extremely fertile.
Xhanadu, my Tornaado mare, fittingly, was the first one to be declared in foal, with Lady Hamilton, Sultan's Charming Lady and Timing's Perfect Star next in line. All were sucessfully inseminated by Dr L. Naude of Malmesbury.
Fred Sarver from Carlisle, Kentucky, attended the Parys Christmas Festival where he gave a very informative seminar on Broodmare and Foal Management. He then spend some time with George and Bettie Borcherds at their Middelburg farm. He was impressed with Perfect Timing, the foals and also with the visiting stallion, Limited Assigment. He is by Warlord's Touche out of a Quaker Town dam and proudly owned by Wim van Bergen of Douglas. Newline will breed some mares to him this year.
Afterwards Fred visit me in Cape Town. It was great having him here and it also created the opportunity to see the imported stallions again. Both Made In Heaven and Premier Night put up a grand show! We also visited some barns in Cape Town, besides KE Stables, also Tears and Roses and Juhantha Stables.

Perfect Timing, always willing to pose for photographs!

Newline's first Africa Saddle Horse Futurity foals were born! Sharp Salute had a big bold bay filly by Perfect Timing - Perfect Style & Grace. Perfect Tango had a very beautiful chestnut stud colt, War Timing by War Image Boy. Tops and Tails made us wait a bit, but in the end had a very classy stud colt by Perfect Timing, Timing Is Everything. It is going to be an interesting competition in March at Middelburg! All over South Africa the foals are dropping one by one and they all seems pretty awesome!

Black Magic and Elizka went to Philippolis and they were brilliant! She won the Three Gaited Mare Class in grand style and then showed back in the Grand Championship where she was crowned Reserve Three Gaited Grand Champion! Way to go, Elizka and Black Magic!!!

October 2010
Free Radical and George had their first show together at the Cradock Regional Show. They were Reserve in the Gentlemen's Five Gaited Class and came 4th in a 13 horse strong Five Gaited Championship, the Monty Gadd! Well done to both!! He is only 5 years old.
Supreme's Free Radical and George Borcherds on a true rack!
September 2010
Before the KSF I did some research and found out that Periaptor mares are begining to produce more and more World Champions. I had an idea of looking for possible Periaptor mares, but after seeing the brilliant Amateur Three Gaited Champion of Champions, With Style and Grace, I was convinced that my American broodmare band needed Peripator bloodlines. With Syle And Grace is by Sir William Robert x Lady Peridot (x Peripator) With the help and assistance of Vicky Clark, I managed to get two of the best at Rob and Jackie Tanner's stables in Versailles, KY. One, "So Graceful", has produced a World Champion already and the other is a young black yearling filly, Peri's Fancy Dancer with a pedigree to die for! Periaptor is a line bred Wing's Fleet Admiral grandson with an Indiana Ace BHF granddam. Wing's Fleet Admiral is of course also the sire of the great S.A. National Five Gaited Horse Tears & Roses! "So Graceful", will stay in the States and after she foals will visit the court of Sir William Robert - Fancy Dancer will come to South Africa with the two young colts early in 2011.
Peri's Fancy Dancer, coming out of the field showing extreme beauty, refinement and quality!
Kevin unfortunately had another bad fall from a horse and could not show at Tulbagh and Robertson Shows. The decision was made to take the young four year old gelding, Freddie Mercury, on very short notice, to Junior Hugo of Tears & Roses Stables. Junior took him to Tulbagh where he showed lots of potential in the Four Year Old Five Gaited Division. He qualified to show next year at the National Championship Show in Bloemfontein.

August 2010
George Borcherds and I had the privilege of attending the 107th World's Championship Horse Show at Louisville, Kentucky. Photographs of the show have been posted on the website. It was with great anticipation and expectation that I went, it would be the first time that I would see all the news foals and mares. I was again not disappointed in Fred Sarver's choice! Leatherwood Starlikeness is the prettiest mare that I have ever laid eyes upon with her I'm A New Yorker foal, Star On Broadway, just exquisite! The Nutcracker colt, Quantum Of Solace was more than I could hope for, with the typical Nutcracker phenotype! His dam, Katharine's Perfect Night is currently in foal to Sir William Robert.

Quantum Of Solace, the new Nutcracker colt.
The biggest suprise was however the young filly, Chelsea Megastar out of the CH Caramac mare, Callaway's Lean On Me by Leatherwood's Starlight. She was magnificent and would qualify for the AAC. I would stay a week longer for her to show. Unfortunately it was not meant to be. The Wednesday before the show she became sick and despite treating her for a respiratory infection, she died on the day that she would have shown in Indianapolis. Another sad ending for a potential brilliant filly.

Black Magic and Elizka put on a grand show at the big Bultfontein Show while I was in the States. She got a third tie in a very strong Mare Three Gaited Stake Class.

Callaway's Lean On Me had a beautiful filly by Leatherwood Starlight! Chelsea Megastar!
April 2010
Leatherwood's Starlikesness had a beautiful I'm A New Yorker colt at Leatherwood Farm, Paris KY. His name is Star On Broadway.
The second ASF Stallion Auction was a huge success with HS Daydream's Premier Night and Undulata's Made In Heaven topping the auction bid at R32000 and R23000 respectively! The most ever paid for a breeding fee for a Saddlebred Stallion in South Africa!
The S.A. Championships was again held in pouring rain on the Saturday of the show. Unfortunately Kevin had an extremely bad fall, yet again from a customer's horse and broke his ribs and sustained severe concussion. Another setback for KE Stables at the National Championships.
Free Radical was 4th in the Junior Five Gaited Championship and after the show went to George Borcherds at Middelburg. Black Magic and Elizka received a 7th ribbon in the Three Gaited Mare Championship and looked much calmer and less nervous.
March 2010
The imported colts, Made In Heaven and Premier Night are growing like there is no tomorrow and has adapted fantasticly in their new environment. They receive the best of care at KE Stables. Both are special and unique in their own way! We have to be patient, but cannot wait for their training to start in April to see their real potential!

February 2010
Black Magic relocated to Elizka Jordaan's Buckridge Stables in Bloemfontein where she will be trained in future. She was not in foal to Hot Ticket and Elizka wanted a chance with this great mare. I gladly obliged, as I believe, we have not seen the best of this brilliant mare. The two of them clicked immediately!
Black Magic and Elizka after 2 months!
Katharine's Perfect Night gave birth to a beautiful chestnut Nutcracker colt at Leatherwood Farm in Paris, KY. He will be named, Quantum of Solace.
January 2010
The year began with the most terrible of news. The brilliant black colt, Sir Clarence Ronald died in a freak accident at Willowbank Farm. He broke his neck. The dream is shattered.
